I can't really answer that, 'cause I don't know how much salt you added to begin with. I suggest you do it slowly. The 1/2 cup per gallon of water is when you actually follow that equation. Not knowing how much salt you used to begin with makes it hard to suggest an actual amount, BUT a safe amount would be 1/4 cup of salt, mix and test. Do it little by little. Don't worry, just take it slowly and you'll achieve your goal. Remember, you can actually add the salt to directly to the tank if you have no livestock. Once you your tank has cycled, you HAVE to mix the salt and RO water in buckets at least a day before you do a water change, you want the oxygen and carbon levels to be right.
