Default Sump / Sand

So I made my own sump - check
Bought a pump - check
Made the plumbing - check
added crushed seashells and argonite for substrate - check
added my water - check
waited for sand and dust to settle - check
Turned on the pump and started overflow siphon.....
AHHHHHH all that dust from the new sand kicked up and completely clouded up my tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How bad is this for my inhabitants?? My anemones and corals look not happy. My inverts are ok and my fish have been hiding. Sump / fuge water is clear, skimmer seams to be doing its job, no microbubbles in the tank. Tank is still very cloudy after 2 hrs. Someone tell me this happens in nature every now and again and my tank will be fine. I am FREAKING OUT.
