If your tank has been going since '06, Tufa Rock will quickly change to "live rock" in your tank. My Tufa has been in my tank for 4 months now. Another month or so and you will not be able to tell the difference from it and my live rock. I do not currently add kalk so I cant help you there. But I am always on a budget with my tank so the tufa saved me some $$$$. Plus your tank wont get the infamous ammonia spike from adding more LR.
