Glad to see you figured out your photo dilemma.
I had similar issues on my nano brackish tank, no matter how many water changes the algae was excessive. A UV sterilizer could eliminate many of the algae waterborne pores and keep it in check and preventing any algae blooms. However, 13 fish is several fish for 34 liters, and very small for UV sterilizer. Your Bio load might be feeding your excessive algae too.
On your ornaments issue, I have heard of people using bleach to fully clean them. Just make sure you fully rinse any remaining bleach before replacing back in the aquarium.
