Well... He is a South American Chiclid (that I believe ranges into extreme South Texas) thats prefers soft water as opposed to the electric yellows that are from africa and prefer harder water. He will eventually get 6-8" and will eat your tetra and probably kill your loach. He will likely do fine in hard water for awhile but will probably develop Hole in the Head disease eventually. If you plan on keeping both African and South American Chiclids it is probably better to fair on the side of softer water.
Often it is best to try and keep fish that have the same requirements as each other together. He will do fine on the same food you feed the yellows.
