Unfortunately the only way to keep the fluctuations down is a chiller. (very expensive) Or the fan setup you are currently doing. I found it was just easier to hook my fan up to the timer that my lights are on to cut down on the fluctuations. You can also read on the forum here that people use ice but that also cools the tank down slowly and will require more work on your part.
