The RO/DI water that some of us add is very low in alkalinity. And unless you do FREQUENT water changes (not my favorite thing in the world) How are you supposed to keep your alkaline levels up along with your calcium? I know quite a few people who dose with Kalswasser or pickling lime (I have some myself) And my wife likes to use a 2 part solution of a buffering agent and calcium additive. I can see a change If my calcium levels were low, add an additive, then test my water and the other thing I have noticed is that my coral banded shrimp likes to molt when I put in some of the two part additive If I haven't dosed in a month or two.
