For a 120gl tank what wattage would you reccomend?

Also, kind of off the subject, but I needed to replace the batteries in my thermostat last night. The battery light was blinking. I took out the tripple A's and at one end that holds the battery, the little contact piece was corroded. It was dried out and white. I took a screw driver and knocked off all of the white stuff and scraped the contact off pretty good. At least I thought I did. I checked the batteries with a battery tester and they all check out good.

Is there something I should use to clean off that one contact in the thermostat. I had wondered about vinegar.

What do ya'lll think?
