At work (LFS) we use two heaters for more even distribution and the reason mentioned above....the probability of failure. Not to be a stick in the mudd but the cheaper heaters usually break within a few years max. I used the Ebo-jager's my dad had when he was in the NAVY until last year. Then i switched to some hydor heaters in fear of a malfunction....they are about 13 years old and still work great heating my top off water. Jager and hydor seem to have the best quality for a reasonable price, jager has been around longer but is now manufactered by ehiem which is a great company. If I get another heater it will definatley be an inline one, probably a Hydor.
