Mike, Thanks for your comments here and I am sorry you have to tear that beauty down. I do admire your committment to family. I know other reefers have had the same great success with bare bottom tanks and use Tunzes to keep the detritus in suspension and extensive filtration to remove it from the water column. This minimizes the cost of removing salt water through siphoning. When you decide to get back into the hobby, I recommend you check out a 750 gallon corner tank that Mike O'Brien has in Seattle that uses the technology/methodology I described.
