Certainly no offense meant. I've had three tanks with no ich or velvet, knock on wood. 5 gallons is an industry standard from which to start. All tanks are different, but it is better to add in the future than overstock at the present time. As Matt says here "Go slow and let it grow", a very wise mantra Bioload is a large determinate and so is the maturity of the tank which is corallery to the bifiltration capacity.
