I have the smallest Acqua Clear powerhead in one back corner of my 29 gallon and it provides all the water current you will need. My Xenia, Mushrooms and Green star Polyps are just fine. I have it angled on a diagonal to the front glass. I have an Aqua Clear 200 HOB filter in the opposite back corner and my Seaclone 100 skimmer is in between those two on the back of the tank. Sounds like you need a smaller volume powerhead.
