Yeah, what they said, and here's my 2 cents worth:

As near as I can tell there are no 2 setups the same in the whole world but they all seem to follow the same basic principles. Water comes out of the tank and get's cleaned (pre filter/protein skimmer), the temperature is adjusted, various other things may or may not happen to it and then it's pumped back to the tank. You'll need a way to create random currents in the tank, some of the products on the market are quite expensive and very effective, some are absolutely useless. I chose to go with a SCWD, it seems to be working nicely and doing what I expected it to.

Here are some diagrams I found doing a quick google search, they may use more or less equipment than your's. Pumps, skimmers, chillers, heaters, etc. can be in-line or in the sump. Hope this helps you get an idea of how all the equipment you have goes together.

If the documentation with your equipment is lacking try to contact the manufactures for more information. Also this is a good place to ask questions about anything and everything reef related. Ask lot's of questions and read the equipment reviews. Remember, the only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask.

Hope this helps
Ted
