My seaclone 150 is fairly quiet.

You can run the skimmer part-time, but they take a little time to prime and get adjusted so be aware of that on restarting your skimmer. *I find it easier to leave it go and clean the skimmer intake weekly. * I empty the skimmate cup as needed two to three times per week.
